In today's lesson we learned about rhetoric of place. Rhetoric of place often symbolizes something, has history, communicates something, and is often a place that can stand on its own. After going over the classifications of rhetoric of place, we viewed some pictures like Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and came to the conclusion that it symbolized Brazil as a whole. Next, we watched a video of George Bush's presidential address after the United States was attacked by Al Qaeda on September 11, 2001. As we were watching the video, we broke down the rhetoric that was used during the address to declare war and justify American strikes on Afghanistan. Once the video was over, we took an assessment about the rhetorical situation from the video and of course I aced it with ease.
